"How lovely is your dwelling place, Lord Almighty! My soul yearns, even faints, for the courts of the Lord, my heart and my flesh cry out for the living God." Psalm 84:1-2

Cellulitis......

Okay, so Gene burnt two of his fingers when we went camping with the Mowats two weekends ago. It didn't blister or hurt terribly bad so no big deal right???

Well............... as the days went by he started noticing that it hurt more and more. I kept saying that burns hurt and that it would heal soon.

It didn't...... in fact, it kept getting worse and worse but we still didn't do much about it. So finally, after no sleep on Friday night because of the pain and it swelling twice it's size we decided it was time to go see a doctor. The only problem is that it was Saturday night so off to the ER we went!! I felt we couldn't wait till Monday when he got off work because thoughts of infection getting into his blood and other disturbing thoughts kept coming to my mind! He doesn't like hospitals and he did not want to go but I pretty much made him go!! It was a good thing we went because he had this thing called cellulitis, which is basically a not so good skin infection.

It was also a good thing that my mom came to stay with the kids while we went because he had to have a procedure done on his hand. He would have fainted if I had not been there! ;) They numbed his finger and then had to cut it open so that the finger could be relieved of the infection! (aka yucky stuff!) They also gave him some strong pain medicine and a shot of antibiotics in his bottom, which he says hurt just as bad as his finger!! (He is not exaggerating on that one, I had a shot like that once for a serious burn that I received while working with a chicken fryer in my dad's kitchen...... not one of the perks of being a Chef's daughter)

They sent him home with more antibiotics, pain meds, iodine for soaking, instructions on how to keep it clean and bandaged and a referral to a hand specialist. As of this Wednesday, he is feeling tons better and now has full range of motion back in his hand! Praise God!

Yikes! I am glad he is OK. I have never heard of that...and don't think I ever want to experience it personally. ;)

Poor Gene! How scary. It is a really good thing that you went to the ER. I hope he continues to heal so that he can feel like himself again.
