"How lovely is your dwelling place, Lord Almighty! My soul yearns, even faints, for the courts of the Lord, my heart and my flesh cry out for the living God." Psalm 84:1-2

Lesson learned in home ownership......

The kids and I were just hanging out downstairs when all of sudden we heard this unusual noise. We were a little scared at first because I could not figure out where it was coming from and what was making it! The more I listened...... the more it sounded familiar........ sounds like spraying water???? But where is it coming from??? I ran upstairs to check the toilet.... nothing there... the noise was definitely coming from downstairs. Grace kept saying "Mommy I'm scared" and Dax kept crawling after me wanting me to hold him. I put my ear up to my living room wall............. yikes, sounded like a waterfall!!
Now I started to panic, ran into the garage and called Gene right away... "how do I turn off the water to our house?" There were at least 4 or 5 valves and I didn't want to make it worse! I tried a few but nothing worked and I ran back into the living room and yes, water was coming into our house! (kind of a weird feeling) I instructed Gene that I needed him to come home right away! (Luckily, he is only 3 mins away) I actually figured it out before he got there but not before a lot of water came into the living room! He found where the pipe broke and made sure it wasn't leaking anymore and then headed back to work! We stayed up to about 1 am that sucking up water with our carpet cleaner!! Oh, by the way, the kids thought all the water was fun to play in while it was there!! (smile) Dax and Grace were splashing and laughing which made the whole night better!!

So the lesson learned is this.......... KNOW WHERE TO TURN OFF
YOUR WATER IN CASE OF EMERGENCY!!

Oh no! We had a similar water problem right after we moved into our new place. I did a load of laundry and when I came down to put the clothes in the dryer, the floor was covered in about 1/4 inch of water!! Turns out the plumber had forgotten to open the pipes up for the washer, so the water had nowhere to go but into our basement! Thankfully it was just the unfinished part, but my mother-in-law and I spent most of that afternoon mopping up water! Glad to hear you found the problem. Isn't it so fun being a homeowner sometimes? :)

That looks like our laundry room. The hot water pipe started leaking into the wall, so Nathaniel took out a huge chuck of the wall and still hasn't fixed it yet! He really needs to get a plumber to do it because he doesn't know much about plumbing. Hope everything get fixed and that there wasn't too much damage!
