A beautiful 500 weekend....

500 Festival Parade
On Saturday we took the kids to see the 500 festival parade and it was Gene's first time to go with us which was exciting!! (I love that he has the weekends off!!)

My dad, sister and niece Makayla come up with us too!

Some old race cars!!
Dax absolutely loved all the cars especially the pace cars!! My sister and I loved seeing all the drivers up close and personal!! We saw Helio and Julianne from Dancing with the stars!!!

They have all the normal parade stuff too like bands, huge balloons and floats!! The float on the right had Dancing with the Stars celebrities!!

The Indy 500
Gene and I got to go to the race for the first time in 4 years!! The Indy 500 is like Christmas to me and brings butterflies to my stomach! I have either been pregnant, nursing or had a little one that I just couldn't leave all day long. Plus, Gene's Sunday to work always fell on race day and since my whole family goes to the race we never had a babysitter either!! Everything fell into place this year and it was good to be back!!

Gene and I pre-race walking around! Amazingly, we didn't have to wait in one minute of traffic which is crazy! We got there pretty early and had plenty of time to hang out and take in all the pre-race festivities!

We got to see this huge American flag unfold during the Star spangled Banner which was a cool bonus!!
This picture is actually of the very beginning of the race coming around the first corner! We sat right in the middle of the first and second turn which were great seats

A wrecked car they were bringing off the track!!
All the race fans making the trek back to their car!! It is pretty amazing to be in such a large group of people!! (The track can hold 500,000 people!)
