We just got back from Ohio late last night from Gene's Grandma's funeral. I hope these words can express the thankfulness I have in my heart to God for allowing me to be a part of this family. A family rich in the Lord and one that has a spiritual heritage that will be passed on to my children and grandchildren. First of all, she will be missed but we are rejoicing in the fact that she is with Jesus. The funeral was memorable with tears of sadness, joy and just plain silliness. We smiled and laughed which is something she would have enjoyed!

Most of all, we remembered the legacy that she left for all of us. I can include me in that sentence in full confidence, even as an in-law, because she prayed for her Grandchildren and their future spouses. With the absence of my own grandparents, who sadly passed away many years ago, I have come to love Gene's Grandma as my own and had such a deep appreciation for the wisdom she embodied! We all leave legacies good or bad to our children, grandchildren and the generations on down the line. I just pray we all strive for a godly one! I have been conscious of this for many years and strive to do that with my own children but to see it in a real life....her life .....was inspiring. She may have just been a simple homemaker at quick glance, but the legacy that she left can not be measured by the terms of this world. She sent thousands of prayers up to the Father on behalf of her family and never let a day go by without reading her Bible. She never wavered in her dedication to the Lord. The pastor said it's as if we got a head start on this spiritual "race" because of her faithfulness! Now our goal will be to build upon the foundation that she helped lay before us.

"I thank my God every time I remembered you. In all my prayers for all of you, I always pray with joy because of our partnership in the gospel from the first day until now, being confident of this, that he who began a good work in you will carry it on to completion until the day of Christ Jesus."

An excerpt from her Obituary

"Gladys was a farm wife and homemaker with her husband of nearly 63 years on their Johnston Road family farm. Her most important, life-long commitment was to follow the Lord, read the Bible, and pray daily while encouraging her family to do the same."

What a beautiful legacy..........
