State Fair field trip....

The second time we headed to the State fair it was just the two oldest and I for a more educational trip. My mom watched the babies so I wouldn't have to worry about napping and could concentrate on helping Grace and Dax learn something. The state fair was filled with all sorts of great learning opportunities. We learned all sorts of fun things that day!
My two little kiddos in the DNR building learning all about the fish of Indiana!

Grace laughing because when Dax went to sit down on the bench for the picture he fell completely backwards with his feet up in the air!! I have to admit.......once I realized he wasn't hurt..... I laughed too! It was hilarious!

Dax feeding a goat!

Grace feeding a baby calf!

The highlight of the day was when we arrived right after this cow gave birth to twins!! She was even still contracting which was pretty unique! We watched as these baby calves were trying to stand for the first time!! Every time a calf would try and stand the crowd would cheer and clap!! Plus, another cow was about ready to give birth, so we stopped to watch her too.
The vet said it could still be an hour, so we thought we would kill some time by riding the train around the state fair. Dax had been asking about it all day long so I'm glad he got to go on it!

......but by the time we made it back (only 35 mins later) the momma cow had already given birth. We missed the birth but once again we got to see another new baby. All in all the kids had fun learning!

Wow, what a cool experience! My kids got to try milking a cow at an apple festival last weekend, but that's nothing to seeing them just born! I'm sure they loved that. We are all anxiously awaiting your arrival in town, and we just sent a letter off in the mail yesterday.

What a great idea! Nice that you got to go with just the two of them.
