"How lovely is your dwelling place, Lord Almighty! My soul yearns, even faints, for the courts of the Lord, my heart and my flesh cry out for the living God." Psalm 84:1-2

A visit to Ohio...........

The night that VBS ended we headed to Ohio (the picture on the right is of the Ohio wide open fields) for a visit........... it was a long night because it takes about 5 hours and we couldn't leave until 9:30 that night. The best part was that the kids slept all the way there!! Gene's Grandma Pfahler has moved into his parent's house so they decided to go ahead and start going through her house. We were the last of the grandkids to go through the items left. We got some nice items including things that his grandpa had made and a quilt that his grandma made. I think it was bittersweet for Gene because his Grandma only lived a mile or so down the road all his life and he will miss this house. (It just sold to a new couple) It was also hard for his Grandma but it was also relief to get some of that stuff done. It was also nice to hear all the stories of the items left and the ones we took. Here are a few pictures of the house:

The first one is of the front of the house with Grace running. The second one is of their barn and if you look closely you can see Pfahler on it.

We also went to his local fair on Saturday night and then on Sunday we got to visit with the Leuthold family. Nathan is Gene's friend from highschool who was stationed in Japan in the Air Force. While he was there he and his wife Sabrina had twin boys. They are now back in the States for good and this is the first time we have seen them in person!! I believe that the one on the left is Christian and the one on the right is Noah. They are now heading down to Texas.

The picture on the left is of Sabrina and Nathan Leuthold. The picture on the right is of Gene's friend Jenny, also from highschool, and her husband James. We have not seen them for a while also!! All in all it was a great weekend but tiring from all the driving.
